ERIK R. HANSEN, President/Founder
My journey of service began in 1992 and continues today serving in the US Army. After almost 32 years of service, I still felt something was missing. Through the years hockey has given me an outlet to engage people of all walks of life. The 4 of us started the Maine Northmen Veteran hockey club in 2021, but we felt like we still were missing something. Now Operation Crosscheck allows us to help vets through interactive sports and of course hockey. My personal goal is to be there for vets in need and provide a place whether you are still serving or are out to call home. I truly believe we can all make a difference and for me hockey is my outlet to bring people together.
In my personal time you can find me traveling the world with my wife and ally Sara, or spending quality time with my daughters Emily and Kayla. Cooking is also a huge passion, as I enjoy breaking bread with who ever is sitting around our table. Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.

I started to play hockey at the age 10 in New York moved to Maine when I was 13 and the school I went to didn’t have hockey so I started to get ice time with my high school teacher in pick up hockey.
I joined the US Army in my junior year of high school did basic training and finished up my A.I.T after my senior year was over. In 2003 I got my orders to deploy to the Middle East. Did a 14-month deployment. After I got home I found that my release in life was being on the ice playing a sport that I loved. Played in a few “beer leagues”. Had the privilege to play with a few veterans and it became a passion to help my fellow brothers and sisters out by forming an all veterans team.

Through my involvement with Operation Crosscheck, I strive to bring awareness to all Veteran causes and support those in need. Whether it's organizing events, raising funds, or simply lending a helping hand, I'm dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Service isn't just something I did in the military—it's a lifelong commitment that drives me every day.

I am not a veteran, but have been shaped by many friends, colleagues, and clients who are; all of whom have described a sense of belonging and support from their time in service. My connection to this organization started through a lifelong passion for hockey, and through the structure of that sport, other members have shared some of their experiences leading me to a deep sense of humility and respect. I’ll never understand what it was like, but I will listen without judgment. Through my involvement in Operation Crosscheck, it is my goal to encourage individuals and entities to provide opportunities and support to veterans.
